Thanksgiving Point 5k

Randi, Trina and I ran a 5k today at Thanksgiving Point. The race fell on the last day of the annual Tulip Festival and on my birthday which was pretty awesome. I've been training for a few months now for a 5k but I still really really suck at running.
This was  a good start, though.
Justin, Porter and I went down on Friday so I could be ready for the race bright and early the next day. Porter shared a bed with me and Justin and looking back that really wasn't a good idea. My child is a kicker, a roller and loves to sleep on top of me. Most of the night he tried to sleep on my face or belly. I didn't get a good sleep.

The race started at 8AM. Randi is freaking awesome. She left Tremonton at 5AM so she could be at the race on time. Plus, she had 2 babies in tow. I've always really admired Randi's strength and persistence in something. Once she puts her mind to something she makes it happen. Trina is also amazing because she decided she was going to try to run the whole thing. Trina has always been a beast when it comes to sports and working out.
I was running with some admirable people and they inspired me to push myself during the run.

Right at the beginning we split up. It didn't take long for Trina to leave us in the dust and for Randi to pass me.
I decided to run with Porter because I've been running with him in his stroller lately and it's weird not pushng a stroller when I run. He was pretty funny during the run.
First he wouldn't keep his blanket on him and would kick it off. Next he thought it would be fun to throw his bottle out of the stroller.
He finally fell asleep around the half way point and I didn't have any problems after that.

There's not much to tell about the race. I ran a lot more than I thought I would but I also walked a lot more than I was expecting too. Randi for a lot of the race was right in front of me. That fact right there really pushed me to keep going and running more. The perfect moving goal. I never caught up to her because she is faster which come to think of it she was pushing double the load than I was....so what was my excuse not to catch up to her?

Finishing the race Randi and Trina were waiting for me at the finish line cheering me on. It reminded me a lot of the time we were all in Swim Team together and any time I finished a race all of my sisters were waiting at the end for me with a towel and a high five. Our family really has the best support team ever.

Trina told me that she only stopped a couple of times but she felt that she did a good job. I totally think she did she finished at 36 minutes!!

Randi finished just a minute before me and I finished at 43 minutes. It was 2 minutes faster than I estimated so I'm happy.

This was such a fun race and I would love to do more at Thanksgiving Point. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and I love the area.
Afterwards we went to the Animal Barn and the Dinosaur Museum with the kids. We got 2 free tickets for running so that's a bonus!

Thank you again girls for doing this with me! I love you all!
